How NeoTectus was born

In my nearly 40 years of neurosurgical career consisting of over 7000 brain operations (“craniotomies”) and as many head dressings, I have had a long-standing dissatisfaction with the current technique and the material used to dress the head following surgery due to several serious flaws associated with the old turban-like, gauze-roll dressing.  (See the “The Old Standard” in the Home page.)  I finally decided to do something to change a tradition that is over 100 years old. 

After 2 years of research, development, clinical trials and design refinements, the final version of NeoTectus was created, rectifying all major shortcomings of the “old standard” head dressing. (See “The New Standard” in the Home Page)

NeoTectus was initially intended for immediate postoperative use by neurosurgeons.  However, as I was sharing my idea and device with my colleagues and friends in different surgical subspecialties, I learned that the same device may be used, equally effectively, as a “compression garment” during the recovery period following cosmetic, dental and oral surgical procedures. Uses

To dress, protect and support the various operative sites in the head, neck and face, following surgeries performed by neurological, head & neck, cosmetic and oral surgeons.

NeoTectus-Postop is used immediately following surgery as a secondary dressing to hold a primary sterile dressing in place, protecting the surgical incisions.

NeoTectus-Recovery is worn as a head/neck/face “compression garment” to apply gentle pressure to the underlying surgical sites to support the wound healing process during the recovery period.
